Senior Community Organizer
Annelisa Luong is the Senior Community Organizer at Chinese Progressive Association. Annelisa was born and raised in San Francisco by her parents who are refugees of the American War in Vietnam. She learned about CPA while organizing around access to education alongside studying environmental justice and ethnic studies at UC Berkeley. As an Eva Lowe Fellow in 2012, she learned about the changes we can make in our communities when workers are empowered and united. She has also worked as an organizer for political and contract bargaining campaigns with AFSCME 3299, organizing majority people of color frontline service workers and patient care workers at the University of California and airport workers. These organizing experiences affirm her belief in the resilience that exists in our community as well as her ongoing passion to uplift healing justice work, whether through coaching circles, expressive arts, or body movements as forms of resistance. Her favorite things include cheese, noodles, plants, and cats.
