Senior Community Organizer
Joyce Lam is a Senior Community Organizer at Chinese Progressive Association. In this position, Joyce generates leadership development programs, supervises CPA’s Single Room Occupancy (SRO) Housing Program, and supports the Hospitality Vocational Training (HVT) program. Joyce also leads on CPA’s work on Chinese communications. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Joyce came to San Francisco as a teen and attended Mission High School. Joyce experienced her family’s transition from working middle class to working class, which furthered her desire to do community-based work. After graduating from UC Berkeley, she joined Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC) as the Project Coordinator for the SRO Families United Collaborative where she learned about grassroots leadership and practiced family organizing. In 2012, Joyce became full time CPA staff as an Organizer with the Tenant Worker Center. Joyce is a new mom, likes to experiment in cooking, and absolutely hates dried fruit.
