Rui Yi Li is a Single Room Occupancy (SRO) Organizer at Chinese Progressive Association.

CPA is one of five San Francisco-based organizations who work with Single Room Occupancy (SRO) tenants that make up the SRO Families United Collaborative (SROFU). The SROFU accesses unity across neighborhoods and cultures to ensure that families in substandard housing conditions have basic resources and space to healthily grow. The Collaborative empowers families to advocate for themselves using education as a tool to navigate political structures.

As an SRO Organizer, Rui Yi is responsible for checking the condition of SRO buildings, providing resources to families living in SROs, and involving SRO families in community events. Before joining CPA in 2016, Rui Yi worked in a bakery as a cashier and salesperson. She has also worked in childcare as a teacher assistant. In China, she was an office clerk for 14 years. Rui Yi is an optimistic, straight-forward, and positive person who likes to participate in different community events. She likes to listen to music to relieve stress and relax.
