Activist Network Spotlight: “Show up in any little way.”
Karen Ung has been a part of CPA since 2015, first with Youth MOJO. After graduating high school, she wanted to stay connected with CPA and joined the Activist Network — a space to build community, get plugged into our work, and foster people power in our movements.
Karen’s Reflections
“As a Youth MOJO alum, it is heartwarming to see how the program continues to grow… I attended an event where MOJOers created beautiful artwork to help fundraise for Palestine.
There was so much intention in each art piece and in their program agenda. They held so much love for each other. Sometimes I feel lost about what my role is in the movement, but being around them always gives me hope that change can happen, and that the future can be bright.”
This year, Karen has created art illustrating CPA’s work, showed up to monthly Activist Tea Times, and helped reorganize and beautify our youth space.
Karen created this art to represent our growing base building work throughout SF.
CPA Activist Network celebrated the end of a year of Tea Times & taking action with reflections and making tangyuan.
Through Activist Network, Karen has learned —
“The only way to foster change is to show up in any little way. You don’t always have to do something grand to help the movement…
If you’re interested in getting involved with CPA, you should come to our monthly Activist Network Tea Time meetings. You will be in connection with community members with connections to many other organizing opportunities and events.
This is also a safe space to discuss what’s been happening, what’s being done, and how to get involved. There are ways to help, just show up and ask.”
