Under the guidance of Artist-in-Residence Kayan Cheung-Miaw, Chinese Progressive Association proudly presents “We Are Resilient: An Intergenerational Art Exhibit on Resistance and Healing,” featuring the art of low-income Chinese immigrant adults of TWC (Tenant Worker Center) and youth of Youth MOJO (Youth Movement of Organizing and Justice) united in the timeless desire to heal and resist. In the face of a perilous political climate, the everyday struggles of our members with gender and healthcare access artfully intersect in this exhibit, and illuminate how storytelling can advance our vision of a thriving, vibrant community.

CPA’s Artist-in-Residency is made possible through funding by the San Francisco Arts Commission’s Artists and Communities in Partnership (ACIP) program. As the artist-in-residence, Kayan Cheung-Miaw worked with CPA’s member leaders to develop their artistry skills and tell their stories. TWC is a network of tenant and worker rights leaders that fosters the participation of working Chinese immigrants in the social justice movement through educating and organizing. Youth MOJO is a leadership development program for high school youth, with a focus on low-income Chinese American youth. Since its founding, Youth MOJO leaders have worked on social issues affecting youth and their families such as healthcare, education, immigrant and workers’ rights.
